Vacation Rentals in Centro Habana
Centro Habana (Centro Habana) is the "popular" downtown of Havan City, even if the zone si quite busy, we can find everything and it is close to everything. Vacation rentals are in excellent conditions and, regarding the houses for sale, you can find there good deals. The best area of Havana Centra is the one near to the Malecón littoral, or the zone on the boundaries with Old Havana, where you can find the best houses, either for rent and for sale.
General Description of Centro Habana
Despite of its big importance Centro Havana (Centro Habana) is the smallest municipality of the Havana City province and none of its 342 hectares of ground are used for agriculture. It's a small and dense municipality, in fact, it's the one with the greater population density per square kilometer (46.7 thousand inhabitants per /km2).
Centro Havana is the natural continuation of Old Havana to the point that both municipalities tend to be confused each other. Many of the important and popular places that normally are associated with Old Havana, actually belong to Centro Havana. Among them, we may cite the National Capitol, the Fraternity Park, the San Rafael street, the square Prado and Neptuno, the National Balet and the small Chinatown. Geographically and from an administrative point of view the two municipalities are separated by the Prado Avenue. Everything located at the west of Prado belongs to Centro Havana, while everything at the East of Prado is Old Havana. Even if people are able to distinguish between the two, normally when one says "I go to Havana" he is going in the geographic area where Centro Havana and Old Havana are located.
Centro Havana, although it has many places of interest and although is so strictly binded with Old Havana, it doesn't possess the historic value of this latter, it's more a commercial and metropolitan zone, but, at the same time, we can't consider it as a modern downtown. Historically, it was the zone where most boutiques and business were located. Today, even if is still an area highly commercial, it was eventually surpassed by the Vedado and Miramar districts, meaning that the prestige of the commerces in these zone is superior. Despite of that, it's still in Centro Havana, and not in the Vedado or Miramar, where we can say "we can find everything". The Old Havana too has many commerces, but it's about commerces more craftmade like or more artistic, without taking into account that it's in Old Havana where we can find most prestigious restaurants and hotels, while Centro Havana has much less restaurants and the few hotels have less category, nevertheless the vacations rentals are very good there. Centro Havana is really a merchant town, no much more.
Still, it's a municipality with full of history and it belongs at a whole to the traditional center of the city. It's the transition between the traditional, old Havana (yes, "old" is here an adjective, not a noun, so the lowercase is intentional), and the modern Havana, for this it's called "Centro Havana", not because it's a center, but because it is in the middle of two centers.
Renting in Centro Habana is convenient because it's more comfortable than Old Havana in terms of transportation and, at the same time, it's near to all the interesting zones, including Old Havana.
